Sock KAL: 2

I’ve had a bit of a torrid time with my sock for the #sockKAL knitalong! This week was the heel flap – obviously this took a lot less time using chunky yarn than 4ply, but there was just something ‘not right’ about my work so far. The knitting felt too tight, and I didn’t like using Bonus Chunky with 4.5mm

So I pulled it all out and started again using 6mm needles! This is closer to what I used when I last knitted a pair of socks using chunky yarn, so I just ignored the suggested needles in the pattern. I’m a tight knitter anyway – but this is exactly why you should knit a tension square before you start!

I redid the rib cuff and the stretch of stocking stitch, and then moved onto the heel flap, which isn’t very long – this concerned me at first but I looked up other projects using this pattern on Ravelry and they all had a short flap as well. I also got that wrong and had to start again but fingers crossed it’s sorted now!

I’m pretty pleased with it now, and I love this yarn – it’s so squishy, and such a lovely colour!

Tune in next week to find out where I’m up to…
